secure the necessary funding for, and then construct, a Galactica-class Battlestar by 2025.

Created by N.H. on January 11, 2013

A recent petition to construct a Death Star by 2016 was shot down for several reasons. The estimated cost of constructing a Death Star was estimated at roughly 852 quadrillion dollars. This is an unrealistic number in today's economy.

However, a Battlestar would be a much more feasible project: a Galactica-style Battlestar is a mere 1.43 km in length, .53 km wide, and only .18 km high, a tiny fraction of the Death Star's 140 km diameter. Additionally, a Battlestar's weaponry consists of currently-achievable KEW point-defense guns and missile batteries, as opposed to nonexistent laser cannons. Further, adding a Battlestar to the fleet of the United States Navy will ensure the continued defense of our solar system from the roving fleets of Cylons certain to threaten our existence one day.
