The current illegal immigration situation has created a huge burden on our country's resources (significantly on healthcare) and is a major security risk. We must secure our borders and stop providing incentives for illegal immigrants to bypass the legal pathway to citizenship. We must create a reasonable pathway to citizenship for those individuals who are already here. If they abide by our laws, they can begin the path to becoming citizens. If they pay even a small amount of tax money into our system, that money could be diverted into the resources that they use such as emergency room services or healthcare clinics. That way, they can live without the fear of being deported and by participating in our tax system, they take personal responsibility in being members of our communities.
