This petition is an invitation to President Obama and members of his administration to attend a screening of the First Secret City at the Central Reform Congregation in St. Louis on Jan. 20, 2016. The film examines the complex history of radioactive waste in the St. Louis area, its ties to the Manhattan Project and the resulting environmental and human health impacts to our community that remain more than 70 years later. The film examines how Mallinckrodt Chemical Works of St. Louis played an essential role in this top secret program. The president and his advisers in the White House, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Energy and EPA all need to understand more clearly the present and past details of this issue so that a proper removal of the waste can finally take place.
