Seek removal of restrictions on funding and enforcement of existing laws on gun violence, permit research and staff ATF

Created by M.B. on April 18, 2013

During recent bipartisan efforts to find common sense solutions to gun violence, which most Americans support, many in opposition voiced opinion that current laws should be enforced first. However, many current laws quietly are hampered by removal of funding, addition of prohibitions regarding the way in which they are enforced, limits on clinical research, and a refusal to approve a permanent head of ATF. Therefore, we recommend that any barriers put in place to prohibit enforcement of laws and regulations in place be removed, and full funding provided to support full enforcement. Also, barriers be removed for federal money to support the study of gun violence and its underlying causes, whatever they may be. Finally, a permanent head of ATF be voted up or down by Congress.
