Donald Sterling, owner of the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Clippers, was recorded making explicitly racist statements, including the demand that his girlfriend not bring "black people" to Clippers games or publicly associate with them. He has also been sued for racial discrimination in the past.
The Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment mandates that the government not "deny to any person . . . equal protection of the laws." The Clippers franchise, though private, has benefited from taxpayer funding for the construction of the L.A. LIVE entertainment complex as well as increased public spending on public infrastructure surrounding the complex.
The U.S. Government must seize the Clippers to prevent further discrimination against African Americans.
