The chaplain who was to give the benediction was removed due to his any-gay remarks, which is a admirable decision, however, our government is still too tightly tied to the Christian belief systems. It is time that our progressive president acknowledge another minority group in this country by inviting a non-Christian to give the benediction. Preferably someone who is not of an Abrahamic faith, but a rabbi or imam would still be a step in the right direction.
