Instead of going over the fiscal cliff the U.S. government should sell a portion of their debt to U.S. citizens. To make sure that the government does not have to pay a ton of money at once it would be set up in tiers of return. For example a 1 years return would bring in an extra !% more money but a 10 year return would bring in an extra 10%. Although it may not solve our debt it could help.
