The United States economy is in shambles. The debt is soaring and our children will suffer because of it.
Sometimes the best solution to a problem may not be the most elegant, but the most pragmatic. Wyoming does not contribute that much to the United States and would not be missed by anybody.
Many nations in the world that would glad buy Wyoming for a substantial amount of money. Iran, for example, would pay a large sum for Wyoming. A strong Iran presence directly within the United States may also help to foster better relations.
A potential problem to this is that "49 states" doesn't really sound like a very round number. A possible solution would be to split West Virginia into East West Virginia and West West Virginia in order to bring our total back up to 50 states.
