Many of the refugees arriving in Greece are coming from Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. US Foreign policy in these countries have directly or indirectly led to the conditions which have precipitated the flood of refugees into Greece and other European countries. Given Greece's current economic and political circumstances, the Greek government has been unable to organize a relief effort. Additionally, the members of the E.U. have been unable to agree on how to respond to Greece's request for help. Therefore, the US government has a moral obligation to intervene to prevent additional deaths and alleviate suffering.
