send a bill to congress putting in place a tariff on all goods manufactured in countries that allow labor by children.

Created by A.P. on December 05, 2012

Child labor continues to exist in countries across the globe and is fed by consumer demand for cheap products. Any country that does not prohibit labor by children under 14 years of age is a potential exploiter of children for productions of those cheap products. By placing a tariff on all goods manufactured by any nation that does not prohibit child labor, the market will demand that nations choosing to trade with the United States pass such laws. Only through economic pressure can nations such as India and China that exploit child labor be convinced that it is in their best interest to do what is right.
