Send Immediate Aid and Assistance to Combat Indonesia's Fire Crisis

Forest fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan have caused air pollution indices to reach twelve times the level deemed hazardous. People are fainting in the streets because of poisonous carbon monoxide levels. Children are dying. Citizens cannot afford masks which can cost 20% of their monthly salary. Fires also threaten to wipe out endangered species and their biodiverse habitats. This is an ecological, climatic, and humanitarian crisis of global proportions. Your recent meeting with President Widodo was promising but more is needed. We implore you to 1) encourage Indonesia to accept help from neighboring countries, 2) send fire-fighting aircraft and ground crews, 3) provide on-site medical assistance, 4) supply fire-fighting equipment and 5) guide Indonesia in improving evacuation procedures.
