Dear President Obama: Please send the US Navy Seals to protect the UNESCO site of Palmyra from destruction. The world can’t sit by while another ancient treasure is destroyed. UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova said, "I further call on the international community to do everything in its power to protect the affected civilian population and safeguard the unique cultural heritage of Palmyra.” I believe the Seals in a purely defensive role of the historic site combined with mining its’ perimeter would be a low risk operation to the Seals themselves. This will prevent the world from seeing another psychologically devastating video of mindless destruction. And it will provide one great victory in a battle where psychological warfare is a key component.
