send whatever resources are necessary to Japan to help contain the current, massive radioactive groundwater leak

Created by M.S. on August 29, 2013

According to TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company), radioactive materials have been leaking from their temporary water storage tanks into the water table possibly since a tsunami caused a level 7 nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant in 2011.
In a 2012 study, Jota Kanda, an oceanographer at Toyko University of Marine Science and Technology, calculated that the plant is leaking 0.3 terabecquerels (trillion becquerels) of cesium-137 per month and a similar amount of cesium-134.
The Pacific Ocean is being poisoned and one of humankind's major food supplies is being destroyed.
We believe this is no longer just Japan's problem and that we, the United States, should pledge any resource necessary to help abate the spread of radioactive materiel in the Pacific Ocean.
