This petition urges the Obama Administration to create a federally mandated, state implemented licensing system for the ownership of firearms.
The proposed system aims to hold individuals accountable for their firearms by way of a valid, verified license; one attainable only by meeting certain criteria, such as 1) being over 21 years of age, 2.) having no prior history of mental health issues, and 3.) no history of criminal convictions (e.g. felonies, no fly list, etc.)
A key requirement for the approval of the proposed firearm license must include comprehensive mandatory background checks.
