sensibly explain the federal government's complete resistance to accept that marijuana is less harmful than cocaine.

Created by C.A. on January 14, 2014

Marijuana is a schedule one drug according to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 (CSA), whereas methamphetamine, a drug that is arguably much more harmful and with less medicinal merit than marijuana, remains on schedule two. We petition President Obama to 1) treat this petition separately than those asking for legalization of marijuana and provide a simple and logical explanation for this hypocrisy, 2) kindly explain how a drug that is explicitly condemned yet implicitly endorsed by the federal government (note the Compassionate IND program originating from U.S v. Randall, 1976) is more harmful or exhibits less medicinal merit than one that has never been prescribed by any doctor in the United States. We submit that these drugs' schedules must be reversed, in the interest of justice.
