Anyone caught carrying a firearm while committing a felony should automatically be sentenced to life in prison. Anyone caught committing a misdemeanor, and carrying a gun should get a minimum of ten years. The guns that are confiscated from the criminal, should then be auctioned by the state (if it isn't an assault rifle), and registered to responsible gun owners, with the revenue going back to the state. Also, a ban on assault weapons, and high capacity magazines should be put in place.
