Separate Chicago from the other counties of the state of Illinois, thereby creating a new, independent state

Created by N.M. on November 12, 2012

The recent presidential election has demonstrated the extent of ideological and political disparity among voters in Chicago and the residents of counties outside the Chicago metropolitan area; it is the opinion of many in these counties that the interests of Chicago are vastly over-represented in state and federal politics, while the interests of those residing in other areas of Illinois are neglected. It is for this reason that Chicago should be separated from the state of Illinois, thereby creating a new state with an independent government.
