Citizens in New York State apart from NYC are not having our voices heard or represented in elections. Due to the high population of NYC, our votes in upstate New York do not count. Case in point: the gubernatorial elections in 2014: Andrew Cuomo (Dem) vs. Rob Asterino (GOP). All districts in upstate New York overwhelmingly voted for Rob Asterino, but Governor Cuomo still won reelection due to the votes in New York City. This is unfair to the rest of us in New York who have heard Governor Cuomo tell us that we are not welcome in our state, and have watched him send key employers (like Remington Arms) out of state, resulting in the loss of thousands of jobs. We would like Andrew Cuomo to be governor of NYC only, and elect a new governor for NY state.
