Separate Religion from Political Party Affiliation

Created by A.K. on March 21, 2015

I petition the US government to separate moral or religious beliefs from political party affiliation so that voters can vote separately for issues of the conscience, such as abortion rights without being held to a particular party based on their religion. Beliefs are deeply personal and may not coincide with other typical party tendencies. For example, someone may be pro-choice but a republican in every other way and vice versa. I petition that religion remain separate from other political matters. We must make it clear that religious opinion is sacred, giving it it's own avenue in politics so that other party issues may be dealt with based on their own merit. Americans should not feel that they must vote for a particular party just because they are of a particular religion. Thank you.
