Separate the state of California into two individual states to reduce their amount of votes in the electoral college

Created by H.P. on November 14, 2012

It has become overwhelmingly obvious to most Americans that the state of California with over 50 electoral college votes is simply far to vast a number for any single state to possess and be decided by a majority popular vote.

In 2008 over 13 million votes were cast, John McCain received 37% of the vote, totaling 5 million individual votes cast. However despite such high numbers, all 55 electoral votes went to Barack Obama with just over 8 million votes, giving him 20% of the needed electoral votes to become elected despite not winning 20% of the national vote from that state alone.

In 2012 the numbers were even worse for Obama, yet he still retained control of all 55 electoral votes.

We cannot allow these fraudulent "landslide elections" to continue due to misrepresentation of votes
