Congressional pay and benefits are linked to federal employee pay and benefits (Federal Employees Retirement System Act-FERS). This petition proposes removing pay and benefits from this system. Congress members are paid annual salaries and can receive retirement and health benefits under the same plans available to other federal employees. Establish a seperate pay and benefits plan to limit salaries amounts and permanently cut salary of Senate Leadership Party Leaders and House Leadership to include Speaker to the House by 25% with no cost of living adjustments and cut rank and file salaries by 15%. Provide for no pensions and limit terms of service to a max of 5 years. Require them to continue payments into Social Security for pay earned. Salary is only paid while in session.
