Work with fair and just Congressmen to pardon and release Neftaly Platero from Army Prison. Platero was wrongly convicted of the shooting deaths of two other service members and the injury of a third in Iraq.
Platero was charged and convicted of murder and sentenced to life without parole even though forensic evidence collected at the scene failed to point to Platero as the shooter.The Army court did not consider the criminal history of the other soldiers involved nor did they investigate the actual events. The only witness could not remember the shooting nor who pulled the trigger. The Commanders at Fort Stewart chose not to seek the death penalty because they knew they did not have the evidence to attain a death penalty decision. That decision in itself shows that they were not sure.
