The salaries of members of Congress should be set to the median national income of the United States. As Congress does a better job of improving the economy, and thereby increasing the median income, their salaries will increase accordingly. As the nation suffers, so too should its leadership.
Members of Congress are civil servants and, as such, should be motivated to improve the lives of those they are serving. If they cannot do so, they should not be able to earn large salaries and spend more time vacationing than they spend actually working in Congress.
It is our hope that this will result in better bipartisan cooperation and decrease the lame duck sessions of Congress as the only way for members of Congress to earn more money is to help the nation thrive.
