In America today we face a world where there are over crowded prisons and crime is on the rise with seemingly no avenue to proceed clearly plotted for us to end this problem. In the USA today, 2 criminals could rob separate banks across the street and both would get different sentences. If justice is a gamble, where is the deterrence. We need federal regulation for determinant sentencing whereby a criminal who commits a crime gets "x" years. Criminals would be far less likely to commit crimes if there was an absolute sentence of years as opposed to the possibility of probation. Being in law enforcement, I've spoken to many criminals who would openly discuss that they didn't mind committing crimes because they would probably get probation and may not do jail time.
