As many states have raised their speed limits to as high as 85MPH they are endangering the public and instigating road rage incidents by relegating CMV's to max speeds of 55MPH.
This unsafe speed; compared to other vehicles operating on the same road at 10 to 30MPH faster, causes a safety hazard and endangers to lives of drivers and passengers of all types of vehicles. Drivers finding them selves behind large slower moving vehicles tend to become angry at the situation and tend drive aggressively at these times by speeding, unsafe lane changes, passing on the right and or cutting off the CMV.
By setting a national standard of a minimum speed of 65MPH for all CMV's will reduce accidents, fatalities and road rage incidents across the board thus saving lives and reducing property damage.
