If the national minimum wage is set to $10.10 an hour we can afford to eliminate the Employer Health Care Mandate and allow employees to select their own health care coverage regardless of how many hours they work or where they work. The current mandate is forcing many employers to reduce the number of hours their employees work to avoid the mandate and is not good for employers or employees. Employers that wish to continue providing health coverage can do so as a benefit to attract good employees, but will not be forced to do so by a government mandate. Employees will not be locked into the coverage the employer has selected and employees will be free to select the plan that meets their needs with assistance for low wage earners.
