This petition is to limit the length of time any individual can serve in the House of Respresentatives and/or Senate. Suggested limits are as follows:
-Senators:Max 2 terms (12 years)
-House:Max 6 terms (12 years)
The founding fathers of our country were not career politicians. It is time to incentive those who choose to go into politics to be the same. Limiting the time one can serve will force an elected official to have a career outside politics before and/or after serving in office. This will provoke two things. One, elected officials will come from a wider spectrum of backgrounds and will be better suited to represent the people. Two, with a limited time to serve, those elected will have to work as hard and as fast as possible to get things done and leave their mark in history.
