Members of the Senate and Congress tend to lose touch with their constituency over time and become little more than political road blocks, who fail to work towards solutions for real issues facing the American people. In order to keep ideas fresh and prevent politicians from losing touch with their constituency I believe term limits need to be enacted. Therefore I propose a maximum of two terms of six years. This would allow continuity of government and only require the politicians to worry about funding two campaigns. Having a time limit for their time in office may also help to encourage people to work towards a real change. Senators and Congressmen have no incentive to impose limits on themselves, Therefore the executive branch of government should consider working to enact term limits
