The United States has one of the highest, if not the highest, consumption of Helium in the world due to its artificially low prices.
Because it is the lightest gas that is not flammable, and it is incredibly hard to distill out of the atmosphere, we should curtail our usage of helium for trivial ceremonies such as the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade and pay closer attention to Earth's remaining supply, which is expected to last only for another 40 years.
