When being in the Midwest, you will take notice of the fact that the landscape is very flat and that there is no variety. If we share the mountains, there can be more interesting landscapes everywhere and people can enjoy more diverse scenery. Then people who would like to see more variety in the landscape would not have to travel partway across the country.
