With all of the concern for the environment and burning of fossil fuels, it is amazing that NASCAR has not been targeted as an issue. I understand that this provides big businesses a chance to advertise more, but there are many other things to get behind other than cars wasting an insane amount of fuel. Even aside from the fuel being wasted going nowhere, the emissions of harmful chemicals is ridiculous simply to start and end at the same point. This petition is not to eliminate NASCAR; it is indeed popular sport, and canceling it all together would cause an uproar. This is simply to point out that the NASCAR "season" is 10-months long, longer than any other sport. Facing an environmental crisis as we are, it would only make sense to shorten NASCAR's time-span throughout the year.
