Almost all of us as consumers deal with copyright in some shape or form when we consume media. However Copyright protections have been continually lengthening over time going from its original 28 years to now being 70 years past the death of the author. This is an corruption of the intent of copyright which is to provide a brief period of exclusivity in order to allow the author to recover on their original investment. This corruption doesn't help consumers but rather large corporations that a quire licences to brands and continue to hold a monopoly on all merchandising of the things covered by these licences. We should return to the original intent of what copyright is in order to foster a great public domain which only stands to benefit all of us.
