Elections in this country have become irresponsibly expensive, detrimental to the environment, and quite invasive into the lives of American families. The billions spent on the most recent Presidential election could have gone to creating more jobs, or bettering our schools, or to any more noble pursuit than putting politicians in office. Those billions also funded the creation of millions of mail pieces that only served to fill our landfills, and that also undoubtedly resulted in the killing of countless trees, which increased greenhouse gas levels. No family should have to give up precious family time to compete with excessive phone surveys, campaign calls, and personal visits to the doorstep. Please shorten political campaigns to lessen this wasted time, money, and frustration.
