Shorter school days can be very beneficial. Finland only has five hour school days, and three to four classes per day. Finland has a high school graduation rate of 96%. The U.S. has a high school graduation rate of 75%. With shorter school days, students can have more time to process what they have learned. Also, teachers can have more time to plan their lessons. Also, teachers can have more time to grade papers, and collaborate with other teachers. On top of a high school graduation rate of 96%, in Finland one out of every three students that graduate from high school, will go on to college. In the U.S. only 69.2% of high school graduates will go on to college.
As you can see, shorter school days will be very beneficial for the U.S. and our education system.
