Show similar diligence toward fairness and integrity with regard to Disabled American's rights to marry.

Created by C.C. on July 25, 2014

With great moral obligation I would call upon President Obama and his Administration to consider pushing for a revision on a Social Security regulation which places a marriage ban on disabled Americans who receive Social Security survivor's benefits.

Being legally blind since birth, I have had to rely on my parent's assistance in one form or another for my entire life. I started receiving Social Security Survivor's benefits just a few months ago, following the death of both my Mother and Father this past year. In this same timeframe I have become engaged to a woman I had never expected to come along. I have since learned that I will lose all benefits; both health and monetary if we marry, as she is not disabled. I would not ask this woman to be my caretaker, but to be my wife.
