This is a petition to get President or Mrs. Obama to show support for suicide prevention and the treatment of depression and other potentially fatal mental health conditions by participating in the 2013 Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk for Suicide Prevention in Washington DC on June 1st - 2nd, 2013 hosted by American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. With the number of suicides now exceeding the number of deaths caused by automobile accidents in this country, and with suicide being the number one cause of non-accidental death of college students we must do something to stop the epidemic. Attending the overnight opening or closing ceremonies would lend much needed support and focus for funding research and bring awareness to this important cause.
