AT&T park destroys the quality of life during baseball season to all the citizens in the surrounding areas. Fans are drunk, disruptive, traffic inducing, violent and loud. In a time of drastically expensive housing within San Francisco, with rampant evictions, there is simply no reason for a private organization worth $2B with a net profit in 2014 of $70M to be paying $1.2M/yr to lease 12.5 ac of absolutely prime real estate.
Potential uses for the space
- A park. Instead of children watching grown men play a children's game, they could play themselves (gasp)
- Low income housing.
- Public worker dedicated housing. Our teachers, police officers, and firefighters can't afford to live in SF, let's help them.
- Anything besides a sporting venue that solely benefits the hegemony.
