On January 23, 2014, an independent review board was brought in to settle a dispute between the White House and the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB). The Obama Administration claims that the acts carried out by the NSA are legal and Constitutional, but the PCLOB states the program has ran afoul of the law on several fronts. The review board sided with the PCLOB.
Later on January 23, 2014, the White House states that it is rejecting the board's findings because they "simply disagree with the board's analysis on the legality of the program" (Jay Carney, White House Press Secretary, January 23, 2014).
This petition is demand that the White House listen to this review's findings, shut down the NSA, and purge all relevant files.
