When this website opened, I had hope. Hope that the issues we cared about, but had previously been ignored, might be addressed. Hope in direct digital democracy. Hope that the administration might be interested in change, and not the status quo. Hope that the interests of the people might be put first in public policy.
However, the recent responses to the petitions on We The People are disappointing. It is clear that the functionaries writing them do not understand they are failing to fulfill the promise of this forum. A simple, direct "No" would be more honest and effective.
Please shut down the site, but make available to researchers all the petitions and all the data this site has collected thus far.
We The People has failed. Admit it and move on.
