Standard and Poor's has estimated that the recent government shutdown has taken 24 billion dollars out of the US economy. "The agency also cut the annualized U.S. growth view closer to 2% from 3%, Bloomberg is reporting.".
This petition asks for an emergency fund creation for which independent government contractors who have lost income during this sixteen day period might seek relief through the fund's trustees. Income to the fund should come from the immediate garnishment of sixteen days worth of pro-rated pay from any federal elected official involved in the shutdown.
We would also suggest that the fund's trustees be made up of these same federal elected officials who might benefit from spending time reading the 'requests for compensation' submitted by these small businesses.
