In a recent interview with the French Radio RFI, Deputy Assistant Secretary William Fitzgerald expressed his concern about the delayed parliamentary elections in Guinea-Conakry, said that a decision should be made to hold these elections right away like the presidential elections and added that there was a great danger not holding these elections before May.
We strongly oppose any action by the Obama administration to press for rushed parliamentary elections in Guinea-Conakry without institutional reforms that will protect voting rights for the people, guarantee the transparency of the process and the fairness of the outcome.
