The District of Columbia has a larger population than both Wyoming and Vermont. Americans in the District have died fighting in US sponsored wars like other Americans.
District citizens have paid more than US$1Billion in Federal taxes (*as of June 4, 2013) and yet have no elected voting members of the United States Senate and no voting members of the US House of Representatives. Taxation without representation is un-American. If District residents cannot have voting representation, they should be entitled to a Federal Income Tax Exemption. This is about essential American civil rights for those living in the shadow of US Federal government buildings; it's about "Liberty and Justice for All" without hypocrisy.
