In February 2014, DEA task force officers at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport seized $11,000 in cash from 24-year-old college student Charles Clarke under Civil Asset Forfeiture, without charging or convicting him of a crime.
We believe that this forfeiture is illegal under the due process clause of the 5th amendment of the United States. constitution which states:
"[N]or shall any person . . . be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law".
By taking Charles Clarke's money without charging him or convicting him of a crime he is being deprived of his property (money), without due process of law, which is unlwaful.
Hence we call on the Obama Administration to:
Sign an executive order, ordering all of Charles Clarke's money be returned to him immediately.
