Sign an executive order protecting federal employees from employment discrimination based on lawful, off-duty conduct.

Created by D.M. on June 15, 2014

President Obama: Please sign an executive order enacting protections for the lawful, off-duty conduct of federal employees and government contractors. Existing statutes in California, North Dakota, Colorado, or New York can be used as a model for federal protections. There are currently no protections for federal employees or government contractors who suffer adverse employment decisions as a result of their perfectly legal, off-duty behavior. As of 2010, 29 states and the District of Columbia have statutes that protect employees from adverse employment actions based on their lawful off-duty activities.
