The House of Representatives has already passed legislation to prevent student loan interest rates from doubling from 3.4% to 6.8%. The Senate will be considering that legislation this week. You must encourage the majority in the Senate to pass the legislation without the gutting of the health care fund.
This will cause the bill to be sent to a conference committee. Advise the Senate to stand firm in the conference committee and if cuts must be made, they must be made from the Defense Budget or from the Department of Educaton. We must have inexpensive student loans for the benefit of our nation. The modern job market requires well educated applicants and raising the rates will prevent many students from attending college. We must not place prohibitive burdens on our students.
