On average, women in America currently receive 64 cents for every man’s $1, which can accumulate to approximately $430,480 lost in a lifetime.
To combat this, the Paycheck Fairness Act was introduced to Congress as an extension of the Equal Pay Act; if signed into law, employers would be required to disclose information on the wages administered to their employees. Workers would also be able to know the wages of their co-workers and demand necessary alterations to their own pay without being penalized.
It has been proposed to Congress every year since 1997, yet has not been initiated. We urge Congress to approve the Paycheck Fairness Act and establish an equal workforce.
