Sign Petition to End Drug Prohibition!

Created by T.M. on July 10, 2013

Did you know there are people currently serving life sentences in prison with no parole for non-violent marijuana offenses? Drug Prohibition has economic, moral and practical side effects so destructive legal institutions should never be used in such a manner.
According to the 2010 CATO Institute report “The Budgetary Impact of Ending Drug Prohibition”, legalizing drugs would save roughly $41.3 billion per year in government spending on enforcement of prohibition. The report also estimates drug legalization would yield tax revenue of $46.7 billion.
“Prohibition... goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control mans' appetite through legislation and makes a crime out of things that are not even crimes... A prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles." -Abe Lincoln
