I open with a quote, because Carl Sagan put it better than I could. We need to understand the value of science as Americans, and that we can't maintain our civilization without it. Unfortunately at the moment we are cutting science budgets rather than maintaining them. Taking a day out of the year to understand/appreciate science is a worthwhile idea. Thank you
