After Ukraine embraced a path to the EU and aligned itself with the values of freedom and democracy, Russia annexed an entire region (Crimea) and has been sending military personnel and equipment into Ukraine to fuel an insurgency organized and run from the Kremlin.
In 1994 the US pledged to support Ukraine's territorial integrity under the condition that they give up their nuclear arsenal. Although we agree with the President that there is no military solution in Ukraine, unfortunately a military conflict has been imposed on them against their wishes.
We urge President Obama to sign into law the Ukrainian Freedom Support Act and promptly send military aid to the Ukrainian people so they can defend themselves from future aggression and further annexation of their territory.
