Significantly raise rates on junk mail to help the environment, the U.S. Postal Service and life for U.S. residents

Created by P.H. on January 21, 2014

Our economy has changed. Most Americans now have access to the internet to find the goods and services they need. Excessive junk should no longer be tolerated.

Please raise the rates on junk mail, especially catalogues, in order to 1) better fund the U.S. Postal Service, 2) reduce the amount of junk mail inflicted on U.S. residents, and 3) reduce the incredible waste of natural resources that junk mail causes.

http://www.donotmail.org/the-issues:

-Junk mail in the U.S. accounts for over 100,000,000,000 pieces of mail each year—about 30% of all the mail delivered in the world - requiring 6.5 million tons of paper.

-In 2005 the United States Postal Service processed more junk mail than First Class Mail for the first time.

-National polls show that 80 to 90% dislike junk mail.
